Ghana is at a crossroads. Areas in the north of the country are strongly Muslim whereas the south of the country is predominately Christian. New, cement-built mosques are rising up among grass huts of villages. Money from countries such as Libya and Saudi Arabia are helping every village to have its own mosque. Islam originated in the north through merchants from the adjacent Western Sudan, and through immigrants from Hausaland.

The average life expectancy of Kenya’s 32 million inhabitants is 52 years. The AIDS infection rate in Kenya is very high: in 2003, 1.2 million people were officially counted as infected with the HIV virus, and the number of undetected cases is probably much higher.

Each January a large Pastors conference takes place in Kinshasa, the capital. A constant prayer request from the Pastors conference is for Bibles! Pray that bible organizations would hear and that large shipments of French bibles would come to the Congo. In the Congo, rape is a cheaper weapon of war than bullets, also among Muslims. Pray that young women will not associate this horror with "Christian" Rebels.
